Which pride and prejudice movie is best

Oh yes Collin Firth, please! I think it expresses the feel of that time a thousand times better than the other one. Plus Mr Darcy in a wet white shirt? While the BBC series gives more I prefer the movie. To me, Knightly is Elizabeth Bennet and I love the rest of the casting and the whole feel of the movie.

Despite what they had to leave out for time I thought it was very true to the book. Jul 13, PM. Oh Thank God! Atleast Phillip is there to view this the way I want. The movie is just a 90 minute watch, so its bound to be not all book-y. The thing to be paid attention to is the movie never stepped out of its boundaries and it kept all the incidents together to the extent it could go. But, when it comes to character portrayal, Keira was The Elizabeth.

Everybody here is agreeing, and yea sure no doubt Colin Firth is undoubtedly the Darcy I love watching but nevertheless, the attitude that Matthew guy had, the intense dialogue delivery at the time he proposes I love that bit and can't even remember how many times have I watched it this all is quite adequate and everything about the movie just settles down in my heart! I have not seen the BBC series, though I am planning on seeing it soon. I know from your comments that it is apparently going to be very good, but I did enjoy the movie very much.

I thought Keira was great as Elizabeth, and I enjoyed the movie. I will look forward to seeing the show, but for now I am content with the movie.

I thought the movie was visually stunning and overall it was good movie. In terms of adaption of Pride and Prejudice I cannot fully express my total love for that series or for Colin Firth. I didn't care much for the movie.

The Colin Firth version matched better with the images I'd gotten in my head through repeatedly reading the book. The movie was pretty to look at, and there might have been a bit more authenticity in the dirt, but that's all that redeems it. The screenwriter took all the best lines from the book, the ones people who've read the book expected to hear, and built a storyline around them, and gave some of the best lines to Lizzie, even if she didn't have them in the book.

The version is definitely truer to the book, and Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle did a marvelous job as Darcy and Elizabeth. Series with Colin Firth is the best screen version!! Both Elizabeth and Darcy were portrayed exactly as I envisioned. I just loved the way Elizabeth would smile her knowing smiles and the way Darcy acted - facial expressions, posture, everything!

Jul 14, AM. Definitely the BBC series! I grew up watching it because my sisters and I adore it, and so any other version is nimpossible to watch. Hands down Colin Firth!!! WAY better!! The mini series is the best! I love the cast! They were great. Now, when I read the book over again, I can almost hear the movies playing in my head. The only word I can use to describe that experience is "painful". Though I do love Firth's Darcy, that obviously isn't the only reason I prefer the series.

And a wet shirt isn't going to make me choose one movie over another He's not quite as good as Firth, but still pretty good. Jul 14, PM. Definitely the BBC series-one of the best ever made. Brideshead Revisited is another great one. Firth cannot be equaled as Darcy and I've seen a lot of Darcies Even Olivier can't compare All of the casting and acting are perfect-the Bennett sisters and parents, Mr.

Collins, Bingley, his pompous sister etc. Erik wrote: "The movie was horrible, if you're looking for something faithful to the book. It may even be one of the best translations of any book to film eve Some books just can't be done justice without the time that a miniseries allows -- loved the BBC miniseries and wish someone would consider doing Harry Potter in that format! I think the series wins hands down not just due to Colin Firth yum.

Whenever I read this book now I hear the actors from the series in my head, they fit perfectly. Why did they bother producing that silly film with a cast that could never beat dear Colin Firth! Colin Firth. I would certainly have to agree with most posters here; the BBC one is certainly better. I'm not a fan of Kiera Knightley, and because the BBC series is so much longer, they were able to get into the character development more, which is the best part about the book.

And of course Colin Firth is yummy. Jane Austen's novels are a staple for anyone who loves 18th and 19th-century romance. Her witty heroines and dashing yet complex romantic interests have been adapted into movies and television shows for decades, delighting audiences and giving Austen all the credit her writing deserves. No novel is more popular than Pride And Prejudice , which follows the turbulent relationship between the intelligent and stubborn Elizabeth Bennet and the elusive Mr.

Many times has the book been translated into the screen, and while some adaptations were more popular than others, they still deserve some credit. Updated on October 26th, by Amanda Bruce: There will likely never be a shortage of Jane Austen adaptations for audiences to consume.

The Hallmark Channel and Youtubers have turned the stories of Austen's heroines into modern romantic comedies in the last decade, giving fresh takes on a familiar story. Even classic versions of Pride And Prejudice movies are now available to stream, giving Austen fans their pick of a vast variety of stories.

While there are numerous Pride And Prejudice adaptations that might have higher ratings than those listed below, all of the ones included have thousands of ratings on IMDb instead of a few hundred to make the ratings as accurate as possible.

This particular adaptation was one of the many that attempted to transport Jane Austen's story to modern times. In this case, the action takes place in Utah, with Elizabeth Bennet portrayed as a career-driven woman who dreams of becoming a writer and Mr. Darcy as a successful businessman. The movie isn't made to be taken seriously and is more a comedy than a faithful retelling of an epic love story.

The rating isn't great, but it's still a fun movie to play on a Sunday afternoon. Pride And Prejudice And Zombies is an adaptation of an adaptation.

The book that inspired this movie took Elizabeth and Darcy's relationship and turned it upside down by including zombies. Yes, zombies in the 19th century. Austen purists weren't exactly happy with the book, and the IMDb rating of the adaption isn't brilliant. Still, it makes for an incredibly entertaining watch, and Lily James' take on the famous heroine is commendable. It might not be the best Pride And Prejudice movie, but it definitely makes the romantic comedy more adrenaline-fueled. Hallmark has actually done several adaptations and sequels for Jane Austen's works, and this takes Elizabeth and Darcy into the competitive world of dog shows.

Elizabeth Scott enters her dog into a show, while Donovan Darcy is one of the judges. The movie might be vastly different from the source material, but it stays true to the spirit of the original novel with both characters attracted to one another, but stubbornly believing their first impressions of one another, and allowing misunderstandings to cloud their judgment. The audience knows how the story will end, but that doesn't make the adaptation any less fun than other modern romantic comedies.

The Bollywood take on Pride And Prejudice is yet another instance where the beloved characters are transported to the modern-day, including plenty of colorful dance numbers and stunning visuals.

Bride And Prejudice stays as faithful to the novel as an adaptation like this can and includes pretty good performances by the two main actors. Plus, it's wonderful to witness a clash of cultures within the realm of Austen. It really adds another layer to the conflict between the characters. Technically, Austenland isn't a straight adaptation of Jane Austen's work. With a cast that boasts of Lily James, Matt Smith, Douglas Booth, and Lena Headey, this film where everyone wields a sword is a must watch at least once!

India and Jane Austen come together to give us the best hours of our life, where an Indian wedding brings Darcy and Lalita Aishwarya Rai together, and celebrates all things Indian. Add to it the awkward and overbearing Indian family, and you have the perfect drama! With a hilarious perspective and the perils of modern life, this movie has become a cult classic for every chick-lit fan to enjoy.
